Schwefel Primary School

As a response to the small-scale, heterogeneous buildings in the surroundings, the stipulated building mass is divided up into two adjoined buildings (1 floor for the gym, three floors for the school). This structures the cubature while maintaining the necessary distances to the neighbouring buildings. At the same time, the sealing level is minimised, the routing through the school and grounds improved, and the air conditioning distribution optimised in terms of energy efficiency (gym 18 degrees, school 22 degrees).

On the ground floor a central foyer / an elongated assembly hall connects to the school’s general facilities (administration, workrooms, music room) and the clusters located above. Two clusters are each arranged on the two upper floors.

The gym (with gallery) and the cloakroom / multi-functional zone are situated in the adjoining building. This is planned as separable, so that external use is guaranteed independent of school operations. Likewise the sports ground located above the gym can be used by everybody.
