NMS Spielmann

The four-storey building of the new Middle School (NMS) will be situated in the east half of the site with its forecourt facing Spielmanngasse. The compact volume allows the creation of a generous open space to the west of the site, connected to the play area of the primary school.

On the ground floor an elongated assembly hall opens up direct access to the garden, connects to the general facilities of the school (administration, computing, workrooms, etc.) on the first floor, the gym and event halls in the basement (external access secured) and the clustery lying above these. Two clusters are assigned to each floor on floors 2 and 3.

The classes are arranged along the façade. Adjoining these are the appendix rooms with glazed aerated spaces / climate gardens in between, on one hand fostering lighting and sightlines to the centrally aligned multifunctional zone (MuFu), on the other providing extra fresh air (climate buffers) and improved micro-climate (greenery).
