Aspern II Education Campus

A new Gymnasium (grammar school, lyceum) for the Seestadt Aspern. A sophisticated learning landscape for the educational challenges of the twenty-first century.

The main approach is in the northeast via a double-storey assembly hall. Adjoining this are the embedded gyms, connected one after the other. A spaciously dimensioned and bright internal axis for movement (route) onnects to the clusters and general facilities (e.g. library).

The learning clusters on the ground floor (lower cycle) are characterised by a system of large courtyards (9/15 and 9/21m): the allotted outdoor area is sheltered and designed as extension of the educational zone, also for easy orientation, for light and air, and for learning with and from the seasons (plants). A place of concentration and re-creation. The classrooms are arranged windmill-like around the open learning zone.

The home bases (upper cycle) situated above the latter area are optimally integrated into the department system and excellently lit. Learning in the treetops.
