AHS Wien West

An AHS (secondary academic school) is to be set up on the grounds of a former barracks with two listed buildings (squad building, riding manège), with academic clusters (lower cycle), department system & home bases (upper cycle) and three gyms; the listed building substance is to be integrated into the concept.

The plan is for a terraced learning landscape integrated with the former squad building. A large foyer greets the user and acts as a structural link between the educational areas and the riding manège. The latter is not to be used as a sports facility as planned, but will retain its historical charm by being converted with minimal interventions into general facilities (library, music & dining hall) and home base zone.
